Turn that BORING old LinkedIn Profile into your Best Professional Marketing Tool!
How many of you feel like you have a stale LinkedIn Profile? LinkedIn is the most professional way to showcase yourself and/or your business to the world!
DID YOU KNOW…..that when a person Google’s your name, your LinkedIn profile will ALWAYS appear in the top 5 results? Why not make your LinkedIn profile as “sexy” as you can?!
Key words and Phrases- those are powerful terms when speaking of how websites rank in the search engines… primarily Google. Businesses spend large amounts of money to make sure their websites rank high on Google. LinkedIn works the same way…but the good news is, you don’t have to pay anything.
You can easily improve your rankings on LinkedIn by following a few simple tips:
Your title, aka “headline or tag line”- this is where you display the name of your business and your title. You should also add in a few key words that describe what you do. These key words are “searchable.” Make the most of this …your headline is the first thing people see!
Your work summary- this is much more simple than you think. Who are you? What do you do? And how can you help someone? This is also a good opportunity to list all of your skills that apply to your current job. (hint: more searchable key words and phrases!) Don’t get too technical….keep it clear and simple.
Recommendations- a good solid profile has at least 10 recommendations. The best way to GET recommendations is to GIVE them! It never hurts to ask for them as well. This drastically helps your rankings.
Get Connected- this is important. Unlike what you’re probably used to on Facebook and Twitter, you should connect with as many people as you can on LinkedIn. Not “empty connections” but those who share commonalities within your industry. Search for people, jobs, and companies within the industry you are trying to target and connect! Connect! Connect! This increases your profile views too! Remember- you don’t have to know these people. It’s not a place where you are trying to “make friends” but rather form business contacts. Powerful!
And Finally….
Make your presence known on LinkedIn
Groups and Companies- join groups and companies within your industry. Join as many groups as you can. Once you’re comfortable ……begin engaging in conversation in those groups. Ask questions…post your blogs (if you have blogs) and answer questions. This is a FANTASTIC way to connect with like-minded business professionals and establish powerful connections.
These are just a few of the many ways you can make the most of your LinkedIn Profile! Now…go GET CONNECTED!
